Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Crossing
Two forests, one journey
Bwindi and Volcanoes in a single private itinerary — for travellers who want both.
Two forests, two permit systems, one private itinerary. You trek in Bwindi and in Volcanoes — not because more is always better, but because some travellers want the comparison: Uganda’s steep cathedral of green, then Rwanda’s highland briefing and a different family.
The crossing is planned, not improvised. Immigration, the southwest road, and a rest day before the second permit so you are not trekking on the afternoon you crossed a border. We can reverse the order if your flights prefer Kigali first.
Be honest with us
Two gorilla hours is a significant investment and a physical week. If you would rather one exceptional trek and a wildlife chapter, we will say so. If both forests are the story you want, we will protect the rest days that make the second hour a pleasure.
This journey is tailored. Permits, sectors, and lodges are confirmed in a private proposal — we do not own the stays we select.
Day by day
-
Day 1
Arrive Uganda
Entebbe briefing and the road toward Bwindi. We do not try to trek on arrival day.
-
Day 2
Bwindi forest
Settle, walk, and prepare. The trek is tomorrow; tonight is for altitude and rest.
-
Day 3
Uganda gorilla trek
A Bwindi family in the sector we booked for your fitness. Afternoon to recover.
-
Day 4
Cross to Rwanda
A private transfer through the southwest and into the highlands. Immigration is planned, not improvised.
-
Day 5
Volcanoes rest
A highland day before the second permit — golden monkeys or simply the view.
-
Day 6
Rwanda gorilla trek
A second forest, a second hour. The comparison is the point for travellers who asked for both.
-
Day 7
Kigali and depart
Return to the city. We can reverse the crossing if your flights prefer Kigali first.

Practical information
This journey can be shortened, extended, or combined with another country. Gorilla permits, conservancy fees, and crater rules change; we confirm the current picture in your proposal before you pay a deposit.
Tell us about fitness, children, photography, and whether you want more forest or more plains. We would rather adjust the outline than surprise you on the ground.
