Kenya Mara Migration

Private vehicles on the plains

The Mara at the right time of year, with guiding that leaves room for wonder.

The Mara at the right time of year, with a private vehicle and guiding that will stay with a sighting instead of collecting a list. We choose a camp for location and access — often a conservancy edge — and we leave room in the day for the unexpected.

July to October is the classic river period. Wildlife is strong year-round. We will not promise a crossing on day one. We will put you in the right grass, with time, and a guide who knows where the cats have been.

How the days work

Dawn, a proper rest, last light. Optional balloon if you want the air. Three or four full safari days is the honest stay; six days including travel is the shape we publish so you are not flying in and out on the same emotional beat.

Tell us if photography leads, if you want fewer vehicles, or if this is a first safari after gorilla country. Conservancy versus reserve is a conversation we have before you choose, not a surprise on the ground.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Nairobi to the Mara

A scheduled or private hop to the conservancy. Afternoon drive to understand the light and where the cats have been.

  2. Day 2

    Full safari day

Dawn departure, a proper rest, last light. Private vehicle — we stay with a sighting instead of collecting a list.

  3. Day 3

    River or plains

In season we give time to the Mara River. Out of season we work the conservancy and the reserve edge for cats and elephant.

  4. Day 4

    A slower morning

Optional balloon, or a later start if yesterday was long. Afternoon drive shaped around photography if that is your pace.

  5. Day 5

    Last full day

We return to areas that were quiet or promising. Guiding, not a new loop for the sake of it.

  6. Day 6

    Fly to Nairobi

A final short drive and the hop back. International connections are planned so you are not running through the terminal.

Practical information

This journey can be shortened, extended, or combined with another country. Gorilla permits, conservancy fees, and crater rules change; we confirm the current picture in your proposal before you pay a deposit.

Tell us about fitness, children, photography, and whether you want more forest or more plains. We would rather adjust the outline than surprise you on the ground.

Guest reviews

“Private vehicles, exceptional guides, and a journey that felt designed for us — not sold to us.”
