Rwanda Highland Gorilla Journey
Volcanoes, then rest
A refined gorilla chapter in Rwanda, with time to breathe in the highlands.
Rwanda is compact and carefully run. This journey is a refined gorilla chapter in Volcanoes National Park: excellent briefing, highland air, and a lodge selected for the morning transfer — not because we own it.
Kigali is an easy arrival. You travel into the volcanoes, rest, trek, then take a second forest day if you want one: golden monkeys, the Dian Fossey hike, or simply the view. We do not stack activities onto the afternoon you have just walked for hours.
Who this is for
Travellers who want gorilla trekking with short logistics and a quieter, more polished highland setting. Easy to reverse if your flights prefer Kigali last, or to extend into Akagera for plains and water, or across the border into Bwindi.
Permits are a significant part of the investment and should be booked well ahead. Nights are cold. Two or three nights lets the trek sit in the middle of the stay.
Day by day
-
Day 1
Kigali to the volcanoes
Arrive Kigali and travel into the highlands. Time to settle, breathe the cooler air, and walk the lodge grounds.
-
Day 2
Gorilla trek
Briefing at the park, walk with trackers, and an hour with a habituated family. The afternoon is for rest, not another activity.
-
Day 3
A second forest day
Golden monkeys, the Dian Fossey hike, or simply a quiet highland morning — we choose with you, not from a default add-on.
-
Day 4
Return to Kigali
A last view of the peaks if the cloud lifts, then the city and your flight. Easy to extend into Akagera or Uganda.

Practical information
This journey can be shortened, extended, or combined with another country. Gorilla permits, conservancy fees, and crater rules change; we confirm the current picture in your proposal before you pay a deposit.
Tell us about fitness, children, photography, and whether you want more forest or more plains. We would rather adjust the outline than surprise you on the ground.
