Murchison Falls
Where the Nile thunders
The Nile forced through a rocky gorge — thunder, wildlife, and open savannah.
Here the Victoria Nile is forced through a seven-metre gap before it falls into the gorge. Boat safaris, game drives on the north bank, and the walk to the top of the falls define a classic Ugandan chapter: thunder, giraffe, elephant, and hippo in one landscape.
Why here
Murchison is Uganda at scale — river, plains, and a geological spectacle — and it pairs cleanly with primates if you have eight days or more.
Practical information
The drive from Kampala is long; we often break it or fly. A boat plus a falls walk in the same day is possible if we do not also insist on a full game-drive loop.
