Amboseli is elephant country first. Swamp-edge herds, great tuskers, and — when the cloud lifts — Kilimanjaro behind them. It is one of the most photographed scenes in East Africa, and it still rewards a patient morning.

Practical information
Two or three nights. Midday haze can hide the mountain; we plan for first and last light.
